The Cassandra myth has spurred poets for generations. Now, Melodia Women's Choir highlights the story in the World Premiere of Hilary Purrington's CASSANDRA on May 14, 2016 at 7:30 pm in New York City.

This Melodia Blog Talk Radio episode goes up-close with Cassandra. She is a prophet who sees the truth but whose voice is unheeded.

Composer Hilary Purrington describes her approach to this ambitious work for women's voices, piano and four percussionists.

Mythologist Laura Shamas illuminates the mysteries behind the Cassandra myth and its contemporary relevance.

Melodia Women's Choir Conductor and Artistic Director Cynthia Powell goes behind the scenes to share how the choir is exploring the richness of this new commissioned work.

Jenny Clarke, founder of Melodia Women's Choir, speaks about the choir's mission to create new works by women composers, while using the power of women's voices to invigorate the existing canon -- including works in the May 14 concert by Meredith Monk, Emma Lou Diemer, Nick Page and pop musicians.
