Brian Thornton is principal and owner of Brian G Thornton Designs. BGTD is a design and consulting studio for hospitality, commercial, retail and residential design. His designs for Pinnacle Entertainment, Marriott, Hilton and Goldman Sachs properties are noteworthy. Thornton’s Studio is currently working for DiamondRock Hospitality on several of their holdings, as well. Thornton has also led design for:  MGM’s Design Group, RTKL, H. Chambers, and Gensler, where his designs led to multiple AIA and IIDA awards. 

Thornton is an industrial designer with patented plumbing fixtures he created with Pfister® faucets, seating, softgoods, custom lighting casegoods for Marriott in Honolulu, Aruba and Sonoma, CA. Roles such as architect, interior architect and designer have led to discoveries and experience in lighting challenges and solutions. He has created over fifty custom lighting designs primarily for every project he’s touched in his 35 year career.

He has designed and or renovated some of the iconic retail and public spaces around the country including the rewrite of the criteria for Pelli’s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport while at Gensler DC. And the 107 Lounge, atop of the Stratosphere Tower, Las Vegas.

He is a prolific reader and writer, and this year joined the editorial staff of BLVDs Magazine with their 2015 launch of their Home |Design spinoff. He is a graduate and former visiting professor in Architecture from Hampton University in Virginia.  He has lectured at his alma mater, UMCP, Carnegie Mellon and Howard Universities and the Art Institute in Las Vegas. Thornton has been a guest on HGTV’s “Bang for Your Buck” one of their popular series. He resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
