Alyssa Thomas attended her first classes on International Entrepreneurship where she learned and become involved with Kiva.

Alyssa’s curiosity inspired her to delve deeper into the industry of microfinance. While attending Quinnipiac University, she participated in a trip to Leon, Nicaragua where she was responsible for dispersing microloans and able to put the theories she had learned into practice. She also had the opportunity to host Muhammed Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Winner and Father of Microfinance, at her university where he inspired her to apply for a Kiva fellowship after graduation.

Alyssa first served as a Kiva Fellow in Richmond, VA working on the Kiva Zip program. She moved to Philadelphia to serve as a Kiva Fellow with the City's Department of Commerce, and has transitioned into her current role as Manager of Kiva Zip Philadelphia.
