Denise married her partner in California in 2008 prior to Prop 8. At that time you could only divorce if you’d lived in the state for at least 6 months. Denise and her partner separated in late 2011 and were finally able to divorce due to a law in California that took effect 2012 allowing married couples who live in states their marriages are not legal to file in California. Denise shares with us her story and the story of her family.

Professionally, Denise is the Executive Director for the Louisiana Lions Eye Bank (LLEB). Since becoming Executive Director, Denise has dedicated herself to bringing community awareness for the need of corneal donations. She has been the key-note speaker for many clubs, and organizations not only in the Shreveport-Bossier area, but also in other parts of Louisiana. She has been interviewed by several media personalities both on television and radio. lgbtSr is a site dedicated to LGBT people over 50 and our friends and allies, where “age is embraced and life is celebrated.”
