Join co-hosts Mark McNease and Rick Rose as we welcome composer and musician John Fischer to the show. John has been the Director of Music at MCCNY since late 2001.  A classically trained pianist, John grew up in a Midwestern Catholic church with a large music program, and made his debut in the children’s choir there at age 7.  Formerly the music director for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chicago, he led the St. Joseph Children’s Choir (which he founded) to national prominence with their 3-place prize in the Quaker Oats Gospel Choir Competition

The recipient of honors from The Songwriters Hall of Fame and The Independent Music Awards, John’s music has been featured on MTV (US and UK), PBS and VH-1. While living in Chicago, he was lured into the wacky world of improv comedy, and became a musical director at ImprovOlympic. Here, he improvised regularly with such future luminaries as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.   Recently John and writing partner Ruthe Ponturo created the off-Broadway musical review “Divorce The Musical – Better Mad Than Sad”, which just completed a successful run at the Triad Theater in NYC.
