Asthma SuperStars: Swim Legend and Coach Gary Hall, Sr.

This week in our Asthma SuperStars series, we got to sit down with swim legend Gary Hall, Sr. to talk about why so many asthmatic kids thrive in the water, his experience working with swimmers with asthma, what parents should think about when they send their children to camp for the first time, and his advice for parents and kids who may be starting an exercise program.

Gary Hall, Sr. has held 10 world records, was named World Swimmer of the Year twice, and as Captain of the Indiana University swim team, led it to its 6th straight NCAA championship. He still holds the distinction of being the only swimmer chosen to carry the flag for the United States at the Olympic Opening ceremonies.

After earning his medical degree and practicing as an ophthalmologist for many years, Gary Hall, Sr., Gary has since retired as a physician to coach and lead The Race Club in Florida, a renowned swimming club known for training Olympic Games swimmers with its swimming training program that is focused on specific swimming techniques, located in Islamorada, Florida.
