On this show we will talk about the relevance of Black History Month in a "post racial America."
With the success of not only President Obama, but musicians like Beyonce & Jay-Z, business successes like Ursula Burns, and athletes like Lebron James, there are many in America who believes that Black History month has outlasted its relevance. There are some that are even suggesting that if we must persist with Black History Month, why not White History Month (See Victoria Jackson)
Of course the counter argument to that is, no matter the successes that African Americans have achieved in recent history, it doesn't change the fact that there are many contributions to our society that have gone unnoticed with Black History in place. How would the stories he told without it.
Our guest will be Debbie Hines , founder of LegalSpeaks.com, a progressive blog, on law, race, gender and politics. Join us for the conversation.
