The Kids Got The “F’s”, But We Earned Them!

A couple of years back, I was sitting in a meeting with a public official. I was gathered with some members of an organization that I volunteered with. Yes, I am being vague for a reason. I have no intentions of putting this person on blast. Honestly their intentions were good, but I don’t want some presidents of the PTA’s to picket their doorstep. This elected official was imploring us to help them do something about the education crisis that is enveloping our national community, and smothering our black youth. He shared with us a report called The Black Boys Report. In this report it talked about the current graduation rate of African-American boys in an America topping out at 47%! I was immediately amazed at that number. You mean to tell me that 1 out of every 2 boys that walks into school in the 9th grade will not graduate with his classmates 4 years later?
