"You can't live your values unless you know what they are," says Jo Kline Cebuhar, author of "So Grows the Tree: Creating an Ethical Will - The Legacy of Your Beliefs and Values, Life Lessons and Hopes for the Future." Jo has been an attorney and entrepreneur for 26 years. Her journey to this book began with her loss of loved ones to death, both sudden and lingering. As the chairman of Iowa’s largest hospice organization, she came to understand the importance of and right to peace and dignity at life’s end, which was the path to her first book, "Last things first, just in case… The practical guide to Living Wills and Durable Powers of Attorney for Health Care." Whenever Jo spoke, people were most interested in Chapter Ten: A legacy of values and beliefs, The Ethical Will, and that trail led to this book. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree. And so grew this book. You are never too young to begin reflecting on what has been most important to you through your life. Also, an ethical will doesn't have to be a long document. It can be a letter, a poem or song, a video, a scrapbook, or whatever method you can dream to record and share your self and your values. Jo is a frequent speaker and workshop leader on end-of-life issues and creating Ethical Wills and lives in a state of bliss called Iowa with her husband and two cats.
