Laurie Beth welcomes John Garrott this week to the show. John is a native Mississippian, with a B.A. from the University of Mississippi and a M.Div. from Emory University. He is an elder in the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist church and a general evangelist with the UMC. John has served as chair of continuing education and dean of pastors’ school in his conference. After leading the first United Methodist church plant team to Belarus in 2002, he founded, and is executive director of, the 4M Foundation, an organization devoted to mission leadership development. He and his teams have started the Walk to Emmaus in two places, including recently starting Emmaus in the Ukraine. In West Africa, 4M partnerships have started around thirty churches, led ten pastors’ schools, and helped birthed a college mission movement that is centered around the Rafiki orphanage in Ghana. His work within the States is focused on urban evangelism/mission/ and church planting. He and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Brian and Joel. They live in Senatobia, Mississippi.
