Pamela Spiro Wagner graduated phi beta kappa from Brown University in 1975 then went to medical school before being hospitalized for psychiatric care. The diagnosis was schizophrenia for decades. Nevertheless, Wagner has won many awards for her writing.  Among her books is a popular memoir written with her twin sister, a psychiatrist, called, DIVIDED MINDS: Twin Sisters and Their Journey through Schizophrenia. Despite much adversity, Wagner has been lucky enough to have experienced four life-changing miracles along the way. The passion to write poetry and then to discover a talent for art in 2008 at the age of 55 are two of these. Wagner currently resides along with her cat, Beanie Baby, in Brattleboro, where she disavows all mental illness labels.
