Maryland resident Jabreira Handy was charged as an adult at the age of 16. Her 11 month stay in an adult jail caused extreme emotional and psychological distress. Although eventually taking a plea bargain and given a lesser sentence to be served in a juvenile facility, Jabreira was forced to endure months of degrading and humiliating experiences and received no counseling or healthcare during her stay. Jabrerira is currently a youth advocate for Baltimore’s Community Law in Action (CLIA). You won't want to miss this incredible story.
