A Thousand Moms is an organization working hard to help the needs and concerns of LGBTQ youth in the child welfare systems in New York State. These youth are in need of emotional, developmental and social support. Fred Elia is both president and organizer in the Capital District region. Marcia Novey is network facilitator in New York City/Staten Island. Both are looking forward to talking with Jay about whether or not the child welfare system in New York State is meeting the needs of these LGBTQ youth. A Thousand Moms strives to work with LGBTQ youth and families - before these issues turn to crises. The organization maintains an informative website at athousandmoms.org - and also has a facebook page called "A Thousand Moms." A Thousand Moms is a project of the National Association of Former Foster Children.
