Andrew Norton,CT Legislative and Legal Affairs Director

Often victims and survivors of crime become treasured activists in making legislative changes based upon their own tragic experiences. However, most have no idea how to go about making those changes and getting them passed into law. Joining the show is Andrew Norton who will discuss recent changes in the state of Connecticut and how they came about. We will also discuss specifics about the judiciary system and what happens next after a law is successfully passed.

Since January of 2007, Andrew Norton has worked as the Legislative and Legal Affairs Director for BESB, the Board of Education and Services for the Blind, Connecticut’s agency dedicated to serving the blind and our nation’s oldest such agency. BESB is now part of the Bureau of Rehabilitative Services, a new state agency created in July of 2011.

Andrew has also served on the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO), the state agency charged with fighting discrimination in all its forms in government and the private sector. He has been serving as Chairman of the Commission since June of 2006.
