2 Years Later-Black Women and the Affordable Care Act

On March 23, 2010, the historic healthcare bill, thePatient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), was signed into law by the 44^th President of the United States - Barack Obama.

Since the ACA's signing:

• Over 5.5 million Blacks with private health insurance coverage received preventive benefits coverage
• Over 32.5 million people with Medicare received at least one free preventive benefit
• About 410,000 Black young adults gained health coverage because they could stay on their parent's plans

So, why are some opponents of the ACA trying to take these much-needed benefits from women? Let's talk about it with our special guest Dr. Oni Blackstock.
