On March 23, 2010, the historic healthcare bill, thePatient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), was signed into law by the 44th President of the United States - Barack Obama.

Since the ACA's signing:

  • Over 5.5 million Blacks with private health insurance coverage received preventive benefits coverage
  • Over 32.5 million people with Medicare received at least one free preventive benefit
  • About 410,000 Black young adults gained health coverage because they could stay on their parent's plans

So, why are some opponents of the ACA trying to take these much-needed benefits from women? Let's talk about it with our special guest Dr. Oni Blackstock.

Join us to talk about how Black women are benefitting from the ACA, what benefits Black women and their families will gain, why are opponents challenging the ACA, and how Black women can make their voices heard.

We want to hear from you! How have you benefitted? What are your concerns? Why is this historic bill so important to your family and you? Call Dr. Blackstock at 646-381-4662 during our live broadcast or email her prior to the show to asktheexpert@BlackWomensHealth.ORG.
