Special Guest:
Dr. Jennifer S. Smith, PhD, MPH Research Associate Professor, Epidemiology, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health Principal Investigator, Cervical Cancer-Free America.
January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, and we're asking the question: "What can Black women do to eliminate cervical cancer in America?"
Dr. Jennifer Smith, PhD, MPH will join Eleanor Hinton Hoytt, host of the Black Women's Health Report, to discuss the possibility of ending cervical cancer for women through awareness, education and screening.
Each year, more than 2,000 Black women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than 40 percent die from this preventable disease.
Don't you think it's time for us to discuss the importance of pap tests, how the health care reform could help eliminate financial barriers to timely screening and early detection, and the connection between HPV and cervical cancer? We hope that you agree!
