The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) celebrates its one-year anniversary on March 23, 2011. Despite the ACA’s gains to improve the health of millions of Black women, many of us are still unclear about the new health reform law and how it applies to us and our families.

The Honorable Donna Christensen (D-VI) will join host Eleanor Hinton Hoytt to discuss how Black women are faring one-year after our nation’s most sweeping health care reform to date, what our misconceptions are of the new law, what provisions are threatened by a possible repeal and what is at stake for Black women and the future of our health.

Representative Christensen has been a crusader for women’s health since she began her career as a physician in the Virgin Islands in 1975. Now serving her eighth term as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, she continues to work vigorously to keep women’s health at the top of the nation’s policy agenda.

She joins us to shed light on what’s happening with our nation’s health care, answer your questions and hear your health care experiences. Our legislators need to hear from you!

That’s why, we want to know what you think about the ACA; take a moment to complete our survey. We also invite you to call Representative Christensen on Wednesday, March 30, at 3 p.m. EST at 646-381-4662 or send her your questions and comments prior to the show at asktheexpert@BlackWomensHealth.ORG.
