Parents and teachers that are frustrated with today's ed system need to learn from these fighting for them.  Betty Peters (Rep. for 16 yrs in State Board of Ed), Barbara Moore (former teacher turned Ed Activist) and Alex Balcum (running to become a Rep in Al State Board of Ed.) will be speaking about their concerns on why Alabama has been at the bottom for a decade and what can be done.   (334) 261-0500 for Reps Operator will transfer you and (334) 261-0800 for Senate.  House Bill 123 sponsored by Ledbetter that sets up Mental Health Coordinator for every school system see link: https://legiscan.com/AL/bill/HB123/2022 passed House and is in Senate Committee on Finance and Taxation.  SB40 by Smitherman passed the Senate  and was moved from Ways and Means Education Committee to Terri Collins Ed Policy Committee.

TIM JAMES CALLS FOR LEGISLATORS TO REJECT SB 171, THE ALABAMA “NUMERACY ACT”- Today, I call on Alabama Legislators to vote “NO” on SB171. Also known as the Alabama “Numeracy Act,” this bill claims to rid Alabama of Common Core math. However, this legislation does not remove Common Core math from our schools. It actually allows the state to spend $92 million to hire math coaches who will train kindergarten through fifth grade teachers on how to teach Common Core...But there’s more. SB171 also introduces Multi-Tiered Systems Support (MTSS) as a part of this instruction...
