National speaker and author of Finding Hope for Your Journey through Breast Cancer, Yvonne Ortega will interview Stitches of Hope co-founder, Kayleen Reusser. In 2008, Kayleen and a friend began a volunteer group called Stitches of Hope. Volunteers with Stitches of Hope create beautiful handmade crocheted and knitted caps and sewn turbans which are distributed throughout the U.S.A. to people with cancer. Kayleen collects the caps at the monthly Stitches of Hope meetings. She then mails them to cancer treatment facilities in dozens of states. The caps are for men, women and children. Thus far, the group has distributed more than 5,000 caps at no charge to people in treatment for cancer. Kayleen's goal is to recruit new volunteers and to continue sending caps to as many people as possible. "We want every person facing cancer treatment to feel warm, comfortable and attractive while wearing our caps," she said. Kayleen is married and has three grown children. She works in a middle school library and has written nine children's books. You can find her at www.KayleenR.com and at www.Stitchesofhope1.blogspot.com.
