The ancient Indian tradition known as Buddhism has, at times, been called an 'Atheistic' religion. However original Buddhism was not atheistic, and in fact, the Buddha Himself is an Avatara who descended upon this earth to restore pure Vedic culture. It is only the later and much more recent Buddhism that has codified the dogmas of atheism and the idea of anatman or 'no soul'. Tune in once again to Hindu Radio with Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharyaji aka Dr Frank Morales for insights into the Vedic foundation of Buddhism. Rather than a new religion it was a Vedic reformation movement led by Lord Buddha. As Lord Krishna stated in the Bhagavad Gita whenever or wherever there is a decline in Dharma He appears to restablish balance and the natural order of things. Lord Krishna fulfilled this promise when he appeared as Lord Buddha.
