Speaking with our loved ones who rely on us for help is not easy, nor is it something we eagerly look forward to. The dynamics are different within each family; the topic of the talk will be different at different times; and determining when to have a conversation will vary as circumstances change.

There's a lot of baggage that comes with an adult child now taking an almost parent-like role for their parents and with family members moving in with you. We will discuss different topics that should be covered over a period of several conversations. We will also touch on the unexpected things you may learn as a family caregiver.

LEARN:
  • How to initiate the initial conversation without appearing demanding or wanting to take control.
  • How to handle it when you want a decision now and your loved one wants to take some time to think about it.
  • What to do if our loved one absolutely refuses to participate in the conversation.
  • What to do when your loved one wants to talk but you are the one in denial or unwilling to talk.

If you want to call in live and speak with the host, be sure to dial (347) 637-2532. You will be placed into the caller queue where you will still be able to hear the show while you are on hold. Visit www.HelloDrCJ.com for more.
