In 2006, Zach Brooks and his wife Nancy signed a lease agreement for their original retail space in Scottsdale and opened The Jewish Collection. The concept behind the store was to provide a place for Jews to find all of the items needed for life events and holidays, as well as a rich collection of art, books and gifts. The store showcases more than 25,000 items, including more than 200 different tallitot (prayer shawls), a beautiful selection of ketubahs (wedding contracts), a wide array of mezuzah covers and scrolls, along with a variety of holiday and everyday items celebrating Jewish life. While the store is still located in Scottsdale, they recently moved to new space with a more open floor plan for display and more storage. Married and raising for sons prepared the Brooks well for their working partnership. Nancy oversees buying, day-to-day operations at the store and customer service, while Zach oversees technology, communications and finance. Together the Brooks works closely with local rabbis to ensure the religious items follow Jewish law and meet kosher standards.

The Jewish Collection is also dedicated to contributing to the growth of the Jewish community in the greater Phoenix area. It has sponsored a number of educational events and provided more than $150,000 in financial support to Jewish and secular organizations since 2006, including Jewish day schools, synagogues and both Israeli and secular charities. Most recently, they held an interactive fundraiser with renowned Judaica artist, Gary Rosenthal.
