Maria has also been a part of the film world, in 1996 wanting to experience how a film is made she decided to go ahead and be an extra in the movie The Pest and a good decision she made because she was spotted right away by actor Jon Leguizamo and he chose her to appear in the movie. People magazine quoted her as 'Una Campeona Sin Rival', which means a champion without a rival.
