Why do religious organizations receive special privileges in the United States, and in particular, under the tax code?  And since we’re on the subject of equality, is all freethought equal – or are some freethinkers guilty of engaging in some of the same dogmatic behavior as our churchgoing friends?

Joining us for a thought-provoking show are Dan Barker, Co-President of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and the Black Freethinker’s radio host, Kimberly Veal.

Dan's going to update us on FFRF v. Geithner Parish Exemption, a groundbreaking federal court case challenging the parsonage exemption under IRS Section 107, which entitles "ministers of the gospel" to receive tax-free housing allowances that are spent on anything they want, from mortgage payments to televisions to lightbulbs.  This exemption, of course, is not available to anyone else except clergy.

With Kim, we'll explore some of the dogmatic behavior that follows us from church to the freethought community -- and some of the fantastic things that the Black Freethinkers and others are doing to promote opportunities for all, regardless of race, sex, gender identity or roles, belief systems, and socio-economic status.
