Racism in America: A Political and Moral issue?

Racial prejudice is an insidious moral and social disease. Historically, a race of people is defined as a population with distinguishable biological features. When we see an individual with different outward appearance, we characterize him/her by what we  are told by family, friends and the  media. Racism is difficult to characterize; however in its immoral victimization, social concerns are raised which must be dealt with by political means to preserve the society. Too often, the government’s response to social issues is inadequate and problems compound and grow worse. This is the situation with racism in America.

Thoughts of men cannot be legislated; secret hates and prejudices within an individual are not mitigated enacting laws, but behavior can be modified. When there is a law that dictates that no one will be denied employment due to race or ethnicity, the employer must abide by the law, however, all over America, applicants are carefully scrutinized and incorrigible employers will filter out prospective employees who are consider “less desirable” without explanation. Can America, a nation of diverse peoples ever be able to unite without prejudice and fear, the twin roots of racism?
