The tenth commandment is regarded as completing and unfolding the ninth. The tenth commandment forbids coveting the goods of another, as the root of the stealing and fraud forbidden by the commandment, "You shall not steal." ... Obedience to the tenth commandment requires that envy be banished from the human heart.

You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

To desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others: to covet another's property. to wish for, especially eagerly: He won the prize they all coveted.

God gave the Ten Commandments to us, and the reason is because he wants us to live good lives — lives that are peaceful and happy and productive. God isn't a harsh, angry judge just waiting for us to get out of line so he can punish us. He is our loving heavenly Father, who knows what is best for us.
