Bonny Eakins, accomplished artist, poet, musician and mother, shares with CJ how she is living her dream and what obstacles she overcame to live the life she has today. Bonny's dream was to become a published author of her children's book series, "Wonder Island", just released. The book is about children achieving their goals and pursuing their dreams and most of all believing in themselves. "We have lost the good old fashion values in literature and entertainment that I grew up with", she says, "which I feel is most important to gain back. We need to love and appreciate our family and friends as they are our support for our endeavors in life."
Wonder Island is a very unique idea of marine life that lives on land. They are metaphors for the challenges in life children face today. This book was written from Bonny's heart and the characters are very loveable; Ollie the octopus, Chester the crab, Wendell the whale, Dory the dolphin, Sandy the starfish, Shuffles the shark and Daniel the boy. Bonny envisions her work as a metaphorical lesson for life. “We are all connected to and dependent on Earth’s oceans. Awakening a consciousness and understanding within our children that our decisions and interactions have a cause and effect on all life, not just our own is paramount.” Eakins' approach is indeed unique. Kids and parents alike seem to be thrilled with this refreshing and thought-provoking perspective. Isn’t that the most important objective? We believe it is.
