This week’s episode tells the story of Blaise Marmoiton (1812 – 1847), French missionary and professed brother of the Society of Mary (Marists). Brother Blaise accompanied other Marist missionaries to New Caledonia, a French territory comprising dozens of islands in the South Pacific, to found a new mission station in 1843. He and the other missionaries ministered to the native population, most of whom were distrustful of the foreigners.

Blaise Mormoiton was martyred at the age of 35 during an attack by a hostile local tribe.
