"The War For the Hearts and Minds"

There is a war for the hearts and minds of American Christians today. 2000 years ago the Apostle Paul spoke of this same war to the Philippians. More than that, he outlined how to win it. President Lyndon Johnson used that term "Hearts and Minds" often during the Vietnam War referring  to the policy of the US military to first win the war in the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese before winning the war on the ground. But the phrase didn't start with Johnson. It was John Adams who wrote, in a letter dated 13 February 1818: "The Revolution was effected before the War commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations…. This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people, was the real American Revolution".  America won Adam's war; but lost Johnson's. So what counsel should we take today from Paul's 2000 year-old words that can help us win again in today's war for the hearts and minds? Tune in and take notes. Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, on Jewish Roots, each Thursday 9:30 - 10:30 pm EST at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew. Listen LIVE through Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus an Facebook.com/fougcrew.
