Fantastic Frank interviews Lisa Powers.

Lisa Powers started The Powers Law Firm, P.C. in 2008 because she wanted to offer people a different approach to elder law and estate planning services. She believes that each client is important and should be treated with care and respect. Lisa has worked to establish a law firm with friendly, personable staff where clients feel welcome and not intimidated by the notion of legal services.

Prior to attending Albany Law School, where she graduated with honors in 1997, Lisa received a B.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University. Working in high school and college for various retail establishments helped her develop a strong customer service focus. Growing up, she spent time in her mother’s beauty salon, listening to clients share their stories. This helped her understand how having a personal connection to clients makes all the difference in helping people.

A native of the Rochester area, Lisa is the only New York Personal Family Lawyer®, a member of the Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE), the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), ElderCounsel, Wealth Counsel, the New York State Bar Association, Estate Planning Council, Monroe County Bar Association, Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys (GRAWA), the National Care Planning Center and Rochester Women’s Network (RWN). Lisa is a former board member of Flower City Down Syndrome Network, GRAWA and RWN. She participates on speaker’s bureaus for local charities and has taught continuing education courses for the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations. Lisa speaks regularly to local groups and organizations about elder law and estate planning and is always happy to speak for day cares, parent groups and other organizations about the many benefits of Kids Protection Planning.
