After going through a divorce in 1989 which was "the worst, bar none, experience of my life. I didn't mind the loss of my wife nearly as much as I minded the loss of my identity." He began a journey of looking for serious answers to the questions "How does one assign blame?", "Why me?", "What will become of me?" as well as explaining it to his social circle.
