A CSA Survivor Speaks Out in New Theatre Piece

Michael is the Producer, Director and Emcee for the Five Minute Follies, Philadelphia's only ongoing family friendly vintage variety show.

His interactive one-man show "Ask a Sex Abuse Survivor" will be staged on Sunday, June 29th at 5pm and 7pm at the Adrienne Theater in Philadelphia, as part of the SoLow Festival.

In the show he will be recounting my experiences of childhood sexual abuse, as well as his struggles with recovery and finding peace. 

"Ask a Sex Abuse Survivor" will also include breaks where the audience can comment, ask questions, and share their stories. The hope is to open up a frank and productive discussion on the issues surrounding childhood sexual abuse, including ways to help prevent it.

Healing is an ongoing process for Michael. After many unhealthy relationships, he has been fortunate enough to find a significant other who is completely supportive and understanding about all my daily challenges. His wife Kristie has helped to give him the strength to dig through all these awful memories and try and turn them into something that can make a positive impact.

Putting the show together has been a harrowing experience. Digging down to the root of all these experiences, and letting the emotion connected to that root come out, is both terrifying and illuminating. Just by putting together this show, Michael is healing.

Together we are stronger and together we heal. We are not alone.
