In this episode we see  "The National Fire Academy: Not Just Fire Anymore" as we talk with Michael Stern, EMS Training Specialist for the National Fire Academy.

Previously the EMS Deputy Chief and Emergency Manager for Grand County Colorado, the Training Director for Summit County Ambulance Service (Colorado), and instructor for EMT and Paramedic programs, Michael was also a Navy Corpsman and a volunteer Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic at Company 18 in Prince George’s County Fire EMS Department (Maryland).

The NFA is known for high level fire service training and education, especially its leadership programs. How and why is the NFA expanding beyond fire programs into EMS, emergency management and other areas? Do you have to be a firefighter to attend? How is an institute like the NFA of benefit to the average EMT or Paramedic on the street? We answer these questions and more on this episode of A Fire Medic Perspective with Rom Duckworth.
