EMPOWERING THE WORLD IN 2010 Saturday, May 15th (6pm EST/5pm CST) program This week's on the Empowerment Hour we welcome members of the National Black Contractors Association To help us in our discussion we welcome Abdur-Rahim Hameed, Executive President of National Black Contractors of America Drexel Johnson, Chairman of Young Black Contractors of Los Angeles and board member of National Black Contractors Michael LefFall, Sr., Compliance Commissioner of Young Black Contractors of California, based in Fresno. Charlie Walker of San Francisco. Chairman of Black Truckers Association. These four leaders of the National Black Contractors Association will share some of their plans and experiences in the world of large- and small-scale contractors. They will also share with us their experiences with the post-Katrina Hurricane recovery; the black contractor’s involvement with Haiti following the earthquake; and the varying fortunes of black contractors in the wake of President Barack Obama's Stimulus. In the second hour, we welcome Alvin Chambliss to the Empowerment Hour. Mr. Chambliss is the attorney who handled the Ayers case to get economic parity for Mississippi's black colleges. He was on the case for 28 or 29 years before he was pushed aside in favor of other attorneys. Mr. Chambliss will discuss this case along with the announced closing of Southern University's New Orleans campus in the coming weeks.
