This week on the Empowerment Hour Online University, we will discuss economic development in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama since the famous boycott of 1955. This discussion will also focus on Alabama's official commemoration of the state's first black legislators of the Reconstruction Era. Scheduled to join us are Ms. Martha O'Rourke Arrow, the catalyst behind the commemoration. She is the great-granddaughter of the first black state legislator in Alabama's history. Continuing our discussion, we will discuss the economic well-being in the two major black centers of Birmingham and Montgomery. During the segment we are scheduled to be joined by State Representatives Alvin Holmes and Demetrius Newton, from Birmingham and Montgomery respectively our guests this hour will talk about the economic stagnation and the disparity of the two major population centers of the state of Alabama.
