Dr Synonymous interviews P. Tennyson Williams, MD who served as the founding Chairman, Department of Family Medicine for Ohio state University. Leaving a very successful private practice was a giant leap for Dr Williams who served as chairman for more than 17 years. He will discuss the process by which he decided to become an educator and his path to establishing the first University Department of Family Medicine in Ohio. He will review his role in the early years of the development of the specialty of Family Practice with the AAGP and AAFP. He will comment on the transition to OSU and the highlights of his years at OSU. He will also have a chance to mention the challenges and successes of the Department. He will be asked about the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians which he served as President. Dr. Williams will also talk about faculty, residents and medical students at OSU. He will be free to expand on stories about his original faculty and others. He may give some hints about how to survive in a university setting. He will include his insights about photography and how that compares to medical practice. Dr Synonymous will reflect on some of his experiences with Dr Williams and the early days of Family medicine Education at OSU (Dr S alma mater).
