The knowledge and understanding of what an elder  feels during the Holidays can help families make better plans.  There are many questions to be asked -- and answered -- about the treatment of elders and their inclusion in joyous, often noisy family parties:

Should a person in a nursing home or assisted living resident be taken "home" for the family party?

Should older people be asked to travel a long
distance to be with their children and grandchildren?

What does a parent realy need or want? As opposed to what the giver likes and wants?

The holidays can be an emotional roller coaster time of year, but should be enjoyed without anxieties and stress.

Join Dr. Sadigh and his very special guest Carol Abaya as she shares her unique understanding of the diverse elements in our changing and aging society. Listen to Carol's solutions for many complicated issues regarding elders during the Holidays. Call in and find out how to deal with your elders?

Ms. Abaya, M.A., is nationally recognized as an expert on the sandwich generation, aging and elder care issues. She has received national awards for her work with elders and their families.  As a journalist, she has written about the obstacle's of sandwich generation for more than 20 years. Her weekly column currently appears on: www.newjerseynewsroom.com
