Great Day and Grand Risings, TEA SIPPERS!! 35 years ago, my guest entered into many of your consciousness when he and his band dropped a song that has FOREVER changed the scope of musical interpretation. That song is "JUICY FRUIT"  But before then, my guest has been indoctrinated into the music culture since his childhood as the son of renowned saxiphonist, James Heath of The Heath Brothers, being raised by jazz musician James Forman who brought folks by the house constantly such as Dizzy Giliespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane to name a few.  He has played with and learned how to manuever into his career from Miles Davis.  He has worked with Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner and Freddie Hubbard.  

My guest, is an element of the foundation of so many people's careers including my Lil Big Sistah and friend of the show, Ms. Stephanie Mills, Phyllis Hyman, The Spinners, Lou Rawls, and Tawatha Agee, to name a few.  He has created and developed a new genre of music that speaks to the masses as it grips the soul and allows the soul to have a genuine release of the feeling that erupts organicaly....called SOPHISTI-FUNK!
