Desiree Jordan is a social worker, woman’s rights and the founder of Unite Women New York Inc from Mount Vernon, New York. It was her conversation with friend that sparked the formation the grassroots non-profit organization February 18th. 2012, that galvanized thousands of Americans to March and Rally on 50 State Capitols on April 28th 2012 for “constitutional” gender equality.
 
She is passionate about mental health, human rights, and gender equality and is
specifically involved in efforts to unite and amplify the voices of fellow New York
women and their allies.
 
Ms. Jordan's social work focuses on helping domestic violence victims as well as
counseling families and adolescents struggling with depression and substance
abuse. She is a strong advocate for individuality and recognizes the beauty and
value of all persons and enjoys working with them to acknowledge their own
inner strengths.

Ms. Jordan is a member of the N.O.W. [The National Organization for Women], The Organization for International Development [OID] and a member of People for a Healthier Mount Vernon. She is married and is the mother of two daughters, who continue to inspire her work for constitutional gender equality.
 
She an honoree for Mount Vernon’s 2012 Caribbean American Heritage Award, in honor of her commitment and dedication to the education and enrichment of girls and women. In July 2013, she along with 3 other grassroots organization were successful in presenting a Work Shop entitled “Building an ERA Army Using Social Media” at the NOW Conference in Chicago that was voted on and was adopted as a Resolution to the organization’s bylaws.
