Speed of Sound is a band that has been sneaking up on the rock scene in the chicago area recently, playing the music we all grew up with, grew our hair long to, and still jam to today. This band blends the harder side of rock from the 60's to today, and have been impressing the growing crowds coming to see them. Playing recognizable tunes, Speed Of Sound plays music that doesnt compromise their ideal of "In your face party rock". Rolling out music from Zeppelin to Metallica, Motley Crue to Disturbed, you can watch 10 to 60 year olds banging their heads, giving them horns, and having a great time at their shows. Speed Of Sound puts their set list together drawing from the members diverse musical backgrounds, which include everything from blues to metal, and jazz to hair bands. The members are- Ken Erickson, guitairst. Ken is an accomplished and award winning guitarist from the blues rock side, he has been playing in the chicago scene for 20+ years (and plays a mean freebird=). Dave Lewan, Bass. Dave has been jamming since the whale days, and also brings keys and bass pedals into the mix, with influences from many of the great 70s bands, UFO and Dio, to name a few. Johnny O, guitars. Johnny is an oldschool rocker, having played with hair bands from the whale days, and more recently the Brews Brothers and Midnight Road. Nick Gee, drums and percussion. Nick has been an accomplished and versatile studio musician for the last 10 years, and has a leaning towards the alternative and metal side of music. Ed Couch is a relative newcomer to the scene, fronting several blues rock and jazz bands over the last several years, he brings versatility and high energy to a band that loves to have a good time with the crowd. , After recently sharing a stage with Lynch and Veilside, and playing for Addisons "Concerts in the park" series, They have shows coming up at City Limits in Schaumburg, Austins Fuel Room in Libertyville, and the Gasthaus in Elgin
