Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) used to be called Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD’s) – These often silent, serious infections occur from unprotected oral, vaginal and anal sex in males and females, across races, economics AND across sexual preferences; however African Americans have higher occurrences.

Many people do not know about STI’s and how serious they are. This show focuses on the basics you need to know to stay safe. Please join Denise Bolds, MSW Reproductive Health Education Manager and her special guest Oscar Alleyne, Director of Epidemiology & Public Health Planning for Rockland County NY.

Mr. Alleyne is principally responsible for the surveillance of
communicable and chronic diseases in a population of 312,000 residents. He prepares the county’s Community Health Assessment, AnnualPerformance Review, and Municipal Public Health Services Plans. Oscarhas worked to promote policies and organizational activities thataddress the many issues affecting local health and has sought to strengthen relationships among local, state, and federal governmental partners. Alleyne has an MPH from the University at Albany, School of Public Health and a DrPH from the New York Medical College.
