The "Broken" American Dream

The American Dream was one in which you worked hard, saved money, bought a home and were eventually able to retire comfortably.

But that is no longer the reality for many Americans.  Retirement has been pushed off later and later and housing values have decreased, along with retirement savings.

What "dream" is left when people can actually make more money collecting benefits than going out and getting a job?  What happens to those who have contributed to society and now have less and less to show for it?
