In 1997 he was instrumental in the formation of the Toronto Film Critics Association. and in 2001 the University of Toronto Press published his comprehensive encyclopedia 'Take One's Essential Guide to Canadian Film'
He has been a passionate and insightful advocate for the Canadian Cinema and Canadian filmmakers for over 40 years.
