The J. Anthony Lukas Prize Project and the Columbia Journalism School present a conversation between award-winning writers David Finkel and Doug Stanton, moderated by Dan Okrent, distinguished writer and the founding Public Editor of the New York Times. Pulitzer Prize-winner David Finkel is a staff writer for The Washington Post and the leader of the paper’s national enterprise reporting team. His first book, "The Good Soldiers" (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), tells the true story of what happened during President Bush’s Iraq surge - and is the winner of the 2010 J. Anthony Lukas Book Award. Doug Stanton is the author of the New York Times bestseller "In Harm’s Way: The Sinking of the USS Indianapolis and the Extraordinary Story of Its Survivors." A former contributing editor at Esquire, Sports Afield, and Outside, he is now a contributing editor at Men’s Journal. His latest book is "Horse Soldiers: The Extraordinary Story of a Band of U.S. Soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan" (Scribner).
