In this broadcast we will discuss E. Franklin Frazier's book "The Negro Church in America".  We often talk about the symptons we see going wrong with the black church today without getting to the root cause to why it is not operating like a Kingdom Assembly as Christ ordained. This book helps chronicle the origins of the black church in slavery from it's beginings in Savanah, Georgia and Charleston South Carolina. We will discuss the social dynamics and conditions that helped form what he calls "The Negro Church in America".

Chapters from the Book We will Discuss: THE NEGRO CHURCH: A NATION WITHIN A NATION, NEGRO RELIGION IN THE CITY, THE SECULARIZATION OF THE CHURCHES, RELIGION IN THE "STOREFRONT" CHURCH, NEGRO CULTS IN THE CITY, THE CHURCH IS NO LONGER A REFUGE

Sociologist E. Franklin studied at Howard University and the New York School of Social Work before teaching sociology at Morehouse College and Fiske University. His sometimes controversial area of interest was the effect of racial tension on black life.
