Tonight Lady T welcomes Anne Newkirk Niven, publisher of Witches & Pagans, Sage Woman & Crone Magazines.

Like most Pagans, Anne believes that there really never was a time when she *wasn’t* Pagan; it’s just that she didn’t have a name for it. As a child she had a Mystical Heart, connected to the Earth and eventually, as a young adult, discovered the Goddess through reading two books: The Mists of Avalon (which was a gateway for many in her generation) and Starhawk’s original version of The Spiral Dance.

While trying to make a living in 1988, Anne was living in Point Arena, California, a tiny coastal community in the middle of nowhere; having given up pursuing a career in the Christian ministry (for both personal and thealogical reasons) she and her husband were operating a small print shop when she saw a copy of SageWoman and called the publisher, Lunaea Weatherstone, and asked to have the job of printing the magazine. Lunea's printer at the time had done a bad job for her sometimes printing pages upside down and backwards, so Anne & her husband got the job. After a long series of events, SageWoman came to be in Anne's hands, she ended up as Publisher, and has been doing this work ever since!
