Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour, District 5, is serving his second term on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and in his first elected office. A native Charlottean, he is a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq.?

He is the Director of Operations for LSI Medical. He is a member of the Mecklenburg County Young Republicans, and the Charlotte Junior Chamber, and in 2012 was a North Carolina Delegate to the GOP Convention in Tampa. Commissioner Ridenhour previously ran for an at large Charlotte City Council seat in 2009.

Matthew received his BA degree from AIU in Atlanta, GA. He is a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church, where he serves on the Finance Committee, and he lives in Charlotte with his wife Abby, a daughter and their Dachshund, Badgely.
