I was spellbound as I read 'Orchard Hill' by Raybun and Penelope Bowland aka Jim and Lisa Cummins, the story of a young uneducated man returning from World War II to find his home and region crippled by poverty, but who serves as a model of what a dedicated idealist can accomplish with the love and help of others.
Is it a true story or wishful thinking that we can still make a difference?
Listen to Lisa and Jim as they play authentic Appalachian music and discuss one of the best books I've read this year. No gore or sex, but lots of heart.
