Bob Burdette is a charter member and immediate past president of RISE. He offers a class in Astronomy and Personal Security. Bob spent 40 years in education as a science/math teacher, Director of Guidance, Principal on the elementary, middle school and high school levels and Ass’t. Supt. for Curriculum and Instruction in Fairfield (CT) and Cherry Hill (NJ). During these years he was on the Bd. Of Directors of the Conn. Personnel and Guidance Association, one of the founders of the Conn. Association for Children With Learning Disabilities, and was a member of the Metropolitan School Study Council, Institute for Administrative Research, Columbia University.
Bob received his B.A. Degree from the Univ. of Connecticut, M.A. from Fairfield Univ. and a Sixth Year Diploma from U-Conn.
Volunteering is a large part of Bob’s life. He was a member of the East Haven (CT) Volunteer Fire Dept., a charter member of the East Haven Auxiliary Police Force, and served with the Conn. Forest Fire Service. In Cherry Hill (NJ) he was a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee which interviewed first offense juveniles and made recommendations to the Juvenile Court for disposition. For 20 years he has been a severe weather spotter for the National Weather Service. Bob is also a volunteer usher captain for the Phoenix Symphony and ushered at the Herberger Theatre for 15 years. He served as a member of the Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West for 15 years, was their Personal Security Officer, Traffic Training Officer and served on their Board of Directors.
