In June 1851, a clipper ship approaches Cape Horn after midnight in driving sleet. High in the rigging, Lester Norton and Jubal Calhoun, fourteen year-old boys different as saltwater Maine and bottomland Alabama, gather sail through pitching and plunging dark seas.
